Dear ACN Reader,

These are exciting times for Auction Central News. Our editorial and design team has joined forces with our parent company LiveAuctioneers’ IT experts to roll out a major redesign for the art and antiques sector’s most trusted digital-news publication. We know you’re going to love our new look and format.

All of the elements you’ve told us you enjoy have remained very much at the core of our mission. You want to see auction previews, post-sale reports, art and design features, columns by top international arts journalists, and timely, authoritative news from leading wire services and industry sources. And you want information about a variety of other topics that will help you to remain – or become – a well-informed buyer and collector.

So what’s new?

1 – A sleek appearance

We’ve given the site a total facelift, starting from square one. Believe it or not, 13 years have passed since we took one small step for collectors and first ventured into digital publishing. The worldwide web has changed considerably since then, and we wanted our redesign to be as much a product of tomorrow as our original vision was back in 2007.

2 – We’re mobile ready

Our readers are busy people. We know that more than half of you prefer to view ACN on a smartphone or tablet, so we made sure our new design enabled ACN content and images to flow logically and attractively into your mobile device.

3 – Big, bold images

Art, antiques, interior design – all of the categories on which we focus – are dependent on crisp, large images to deliver their message. Your ACN experience will be a much more visual one from now on, with bold, page-filling photos in rich, authentic colors.

4 – Easy navigation

You’ll find it’s a pleasure to navigate our new site. We’ve kept the distractions to a minimum and included the icons and intuitive functionality with which you are already familiar. Just click, read and enjoy.

5 – New content categories

In addition to the news and features that are the cornerstone of ACN, we continually add “evergreen” content that will be just as valid five years from now as it is today. This section, known as “Be Smart,” might include pieces on how to decipher sterling silver hallmarks or how to start a new collection without making costly mistakes. Additionally, we run interviews with the movers and shakers of the art world and identify artists poised for future stardom who are not yet household names.

6 – We’re even more international

Our vision has always been global. Whether you’re in New York, LA, London or the Far East, we include news that’s of interest to you. Our reporters and media resources are based all over the world. It is our ongoing mission to seek new avenues through which to serve our international readers.

We hope you will enjoy the new ACN and that you’ll contact me directly with any suggestions or other feedback, by emailing ACN@liveauctioneers.com. Thank you for your loyalty and support.

Produced by LiveAuctioneers as a courtesy to the online-bidding community it serves, ACN is your one-stop source for authoritative reports, columns, interviews with industry insiders, recent auction prices and previews of upcoming auctions. Auction Central News has an outstanding team of reporters and columnists in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Israel and Italy. The operation is led by Editor-in-Chief Catherine Saunders-Watson, an award-winning journalist, author and PR executive with a 25-year track record in arts media.

Unlike other digital news portals reporting on the auction business, ACN takes a timely approach by providing its readership a constant stream of fresh news, columns, images and video from premier wire services, including the Associated Press. At the same time, ACN encourages grassroots input in the form of press releases and news tips from auctioneers, PR firms, dealers and collectors. ACN keeps followers up to date through its daily News Roundup email, which is sent free of charge to opt-in subscribers.

Auction Central News also incorporates Style Century Magazine, a publication within a publication that includes top-quality feature articles about the designers, art and antiques of interest to today’s collectors. It’s like the Sunday magazine section of an international newspaper — crisp, clean and unique in its mix of subject matter, but available anytime online.
